You can earn jewels by killing Mobs/npc's { Example: Gorian, Bandit, Dark Mage } And completing quests from the house with a blue roof near the spawn.

There is no such thing as "weak magic". You just have to find a secondary magic that will be good with your primary as well as fitting your play style. Then, you can create combos and strategies. Here are some examples of good combos.
Plant + Sand - Fly Trap + Sand Spear + Sand Buster
Bomb + Mirror - Kaleidoscope + Bomb Stamp + Napalm Strike + Time Bomb
5)How do I buy a 2nd Magic?
To get a 2nd magic, you must first go to the magic shop at the end of the road before the docks when you spawn. Then you will need to talk with the magic shop keeper to buy various magics.
